Brooke Smith (Dr Hahn) Fired from Grey’s Anatomy

I have been reading everywhere that Dr Hahn BROOK SMITH’s character has been let go from Grey’s Anatomy and it’s not because her character is Gay it’s because there is no Chemistry with Callie.

I have to agree, I have never really liked the character of Dr Hahn and always felt it wasn’t a good fit on the show, but I continued watching hoping things would change because I love the show so much.

I am honestly very happy she is leaving and I’m looking forward to who will be Callie’s next interest!

Kristin

ANXIETY

Filed under: Grey's Anatomy — Wrote by Kristin on Wednesday, November 12th, 2008 @ 11:38 am

it coming from the past, things that just set me off? But why, wouldn’t I know why this happens?

I found this website Helpguide.org it talks about the different symptoms of Anxiety. That’s what I get but I can’t seem to get rid of it. I read the following:

Anxiety
A sophisticated combination of negative, anxious emotions, which includes fear, worrying and fear of consequences. Anxiety is often accompanied by physical symptoms or sensations like a racing heart, breathlessness, nausea, chest pains and sweating for example.

Anxiety is the name given to a perfectly natural response to a perceived threat. Depending on the nature of the threat, anxiety can range from mild concern to extreme ‘fight or flight’ responses, wherein the body prepares itself for extreme physical exertion as part of its in-built ’self-preservation’ mechanisms.

Anxiety Disorder:
anxiety and anxiety disorders are conditions which make us react inappropriately to normal, fear-inducing thoughts and events. Inappropriate anxious reactions can take the form of heightened physical or mental experiences such as anxiety attacks, strange bodily sensations, strange thoughts and behavior we wouldn’t normally partake in such as aggression, obsessions or sadness for example.
‘Disorder’ is actually the wrong name for an anxiety condition because it suggests that there is something medically wrong with us… there isn’t. (I will continue to refer to anxiety conditions as ‘anxiety disorder’ for simplicity as it is how most people refer to this type of condition.)

In anxiety conditions, the sensations, thoughts, behaviors and symptoms we experience are not dangerous or the sign of any sort of illness, they are ‘normal’ reactions to anxiety. In anxiety conditions however, the constant or repeated presence of these symptoms, thoughts and sensations is inappropriate.
Anxiety experienced when there is no threat or danger present is called inappropriate anxiety. Experiencing constant, inappropriate anxiety means that the brain has become ‘re-set’ at a higher ‘resting’ anxiety level. Your brain and body think that this new level of anxiety is ‘normal’ and adopts the anxious behavior which then becomes instinctual, rather like digestion, circulation or breathing; these normal bodily functions are subconscious, automatic and require no ‘conscious’ action by you.

The resultant anxiety disorder can cause many symptoms, thoughts and sensations of anxiety… inappropriate anxiety symptoms can ‘feel’ very real, even though they are not caused by ‘real’ danger. You see, although you may feel anxious or scared, these are the sensations of fear and NOT real fear… you can only experience TRUE fear when there is something present which is potentially harmful to you. Doesn’t that make sense?

Your anxiety condition is caused mostly by repeated over-stimulation of the system in our body which helps us to react when we are exposed to a threat. This repeated stimulation resets our ‘normal’ anxiety levels in a small organ in the brain called the Amygdala. This process is called ‘conditioned learning’ or Operant Conditioning. It’s the process we all follow to learn anything new. It’s the process we all follow to learn anything new through repetition such as riding a bicycle or reading… by reinforcing that behavior we perfect it, which is exactly what has happened to cause your anxiety to become an anxiety disorder!

The scientist most known for his research into Operant Conditioning is Burrhus Skinner. His research findings are the key to recovery from an anxiety condition.
The Amygdala can be likened to a light switch. It is either anxiety ON or anxiety OFF. When it is anxiety OFF, it can only be activated by anxiety-provoking stimuli, such as stress, danger or extreme sadness, for example. But, it can get stuck in the anxiety ON position… this is when anxiety disorders are formed.

By over-stimulation of this system due to stress or bereavement etc., the physical and mental self can create anxious habits which then escalate into anxiety disorder and panic disorder symptoms like:

Social Anxiety / Agoraphobia
Situational Anxiety
Phobias
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Panic Attacks

Yes, I said symptoms! These conditions are not separate anxiety conditions; they are symptoms of anxiety disorder.

Why? Because each one relies 100% on your underlying anxiety disorder for their very existence. Take away the anxiety disorder and OCD, Social Anxiety, Phobias and all the associated sensations fade away! FACT!

In the US, approximately 1 in 4 people will suffer from anxiety disorder at some point. That’s currently, at least 21 million sufferers!
Anxiety disorders are debilitating and sometimes frightening conditions which cause sufferers to physically and emotionally withdraw for self preservation.
Unless you have sufferer personally, it is impossible to understand how frightened and lonely sufferers can feel.

The vicious circle of anxiety symptoms and thoughts escalates and the sufferer may start implementing avoidance techniques in order to stay in a place of safety. Phobias such as agoraphobia and social phobia may develop and the anxiety escalates as the sufferer starts to restrict their daily routines and even allow their symptoms to dictate to them when, if or whether they can work or take part in normal activities.

Sufferers can become obsessive; this may develop into an obsessive-compulsive condition that causes the sufferer to carry out certain rituals. The anxiety sufferers may experience as a result of NOT carrying out such rituals fuels the need to do them. Some anxiety rituals include organizing or ordering, cleanliness or obsessions about health for example. Although many believe that these obsessions are part of a separate condition called OCD, if you eliminate the anxiety which drives them, they fade away.

Sound familiar?

A successful anxiety treatment should address this imbalance in the Amygdala directly in order to eliminate the ‘inappropriate anxiety’ at its source. The correct treatment should not dwell on apportioning blame to life circumstances or events - it should simply give you the solution you need to defeat your anxiety right now and return quickly and permanently to total wellness, anxiety-free and free of the symptoms, sensations, thoughts and obsessions which dominate your life completely.

Grey’s Anatomy Season 4 Finale

Filed under: Grey's Anatomy, Season 4 — Wrote by Kristin on Sunday, May 25th, 2008 @ 2:32 pm

So Grey’s Anatomy Season 4 as come to an end. But you need to see the show to fully understand and grab the concept of the lessons each resident learned. The show was great. I saw it twice, I couldn’t get enough.

On the two-hour season finale of “Grey’s Anatomy,” Meredith and Derek have one last shot at a successful outcome in their clinical trial, and it’s a must see, to see how these two work together, as the other surgeons work together to free a boy from a hardening block of cement. He was given a bet to sit in cement and he did it for a girl who can’t admit to her other friends that she truly does like him. The team works great together. Meanwhile, Izzie helps Alex care for a going crazy Rebecca, and Lexie discovers critical information about George’s intern status. This is a must see season finale. I am telling you, I had to watch it twice. If you haven’t seen it already, you can go to abc.com and watch the episodes there. The only thing I didn’t like about it, is that you have to download a program to watch the shows, and they have a few commercials, but it’s great if you weren’t able to catch the show on Thursday.

Grey’s Anatomy

This season that has finally returned has been the a great one so far. Unfortunately this Thursday will be the Season Finale. Thankfully 2 hours though =)

Meredith is in counseling, which I find super funny, I love the way the psychologist tells her like it is, weather she wants to hear it or not. This last episode Meredith finally broke down and admitted she was broken.

Christina is depressed, giving up opportunities to be in the surgeries yet her character couldn’t be better, the bitter bitch who tells it like it is.

Izzy is still somewhat trying to find herself, George has moved on yet trying his best to do the best so that he can finally become a doctor and not an intern.

Alex is helping crazy Ava, I’m not sure what i feel about this story. Lets see what the season finale has for us.

Dr. McSteamy was called a whore and it was so funny, now he’s trying his best to show he is a different man but it’s becoming very hard for him. Calley has been with him trying to either convince herself that she isn’t a lesbian. But the last show Dr. Hahn kissing Calley in the elevator to prove to Dr. McSteamy that he hasn’t changed and that he is thinking of them now and wants a threesome. I don’t really like where this is going myself. I never liked Dr. Hahn’s character and she has apparently stuck around longer than I anticipated.

Dr. McDreamy and Rose? I HATE IT! I am 100% Derek and Meredith! I hope he comes to his senses, well I have to admit Meredith needs to own up and just tell him how she feels, she is loosing the man she loves and I can’t bare to watch it. But Derek trying to move on so quickly after being so in love with Meredith is just sick to me. He needed to be single for a while, and the fact that Rose moved in knowing the situation is also disgusting. Sorry for any Derek and Rose fans, but I just can’t bare to watch them when they are on screen together.

Lexie is still trying to be in Merediths life, but she just doesn’t let her in. I feel bad for Lexie and hopefully she will find a way for Meredith to accept her as a sister soon. She is now living with George, so I am not sure if this is going to lead to something.

Dr. Bailey is trying to fix things with her husband and being a single parent, she still is the strong women in the O.R.

Richard finally got back in bed with his wife, but she is still playing a bit hard to get, it was too funny when he was emailing her and George had to tell him she was flirting. I loved it…too cute.

Season Finale should be great, and I can’t wait for next season. The show gets better and better!

Eric Dane has cancer….

Filed under: Grey's Anatomy — Wrote by Kristin on Wednesday, April 9th, 2008 @ 2:09 pm

Eric Dane was diagnosed with skin cancer back in Janurary. After successfully having treated the disease, the actor is now opening up to OK! magazine about his struggle.

We’re gonna try and not be a cynic for a moment. Hopefully Dane is speaking out to increase awareness and encourage people to get examined regularly. And, if he did get paid for the interview, which he probably did, hopefully he’s donating the money to some cancer charity!

The Grey’s Anatomy star first detected something was wrong when he looked in the mirror and saw what looked like chapped lips but clearly wasn’t.

“I went to my dermatologist,” Dane tells OK!. “He said it was malignant tissue caused by sun damage.”

The malignancy was treated by freezing the cancerous tissue off with liquid nitrogen. Unfortunately for Eric, the actor had a severe reaction to a cream given to him for his lip after the treatment . “My skin is very sensitive and my lip was traumatized by the procedure I had to go through.”

That doesn’t sound very pleasant!

His lip’s overreaction to the medication created a painful scenario that made eating difficult, if not impossible. “I didn’t eat very well for a couple of weeks and lost a bunch of weight,” Eric explains, estimating that he dropped at least 10 pounds off his 6′1″ frame while dealing with his cancer.

Thankfully, though, Dane is better now.

We need McSteamy around for a while!

Apparently I’m behind on the news. I had no idea Eric was diagnosed with skin cancer. I am in shock and can’t believe it. I’m glad to hear he doing well. I have had a family member with this disease, you have to take care of yourself and be careful about getting too much sun.

Glad to hear Eric is okay and like Perezhilton said, hopefully he used the money from the interview (if he did get paid for it) for a cancer charity.

When is Grey’s coming back?

According to Spoilerfix.com Grey’s Anatomy is supposed to have new episodes starting April 24th. Finally!!! I keep switching to ABC….And nothing! I can’t believe this strike has gone on for so long. It sucks because Grey’s is really the only show I truly watch and now I’m stuck watching nothing. Studying more for my exams. I guess that’s a good thing. LOL.

Crash Into Me - Part Two

Filed under: Grey's Anatomy, Season 4 — Wrote by Kristin on Friday, December 7th, 2007 @ 11:09 am

So last nights episode was Great as usual. I love how they started it from the end.

Lets start with Alex and Ava/Rebecca. I can’t believe he let her sit in on the surgery and he got busted by Sloan cus he recognized is own work. Why would you let her sit in when Sloan is the Doctor on the Surgery?! It drove me crazy how he kept looking up at her instead of paying attention to the surgery. At the end he ended up telling her off, how she wants to pretend to be someone and that he doesn’t think she is there to talk and then kisses her. I would have told him off, but she just took it and kissed him back. Where is this going?

Meredith finally tells Derek that she doesn’t want him to date anyone else and is finally opening up. But is she too late? A part of me understands Derek moving on, he’s waited for her for so long and now just because she is ready he’s supposed to stop what he’s doing. Another part of me is super upset that he kissed the new girl……He just told her not so long ago he wanted to marry her now he’s over her and kissing other women?! Ohhh that got me so upset. I really don’t like this triangle they are starting to create.

Izzie and George, what is going on with them?? Are they a couple, are they not a couple? This is the question? I know they don’t have chemistry but what was the talk about maybe someday? You either have it or you don’t. And these two clearly don’t have chemistry. Best Friends yes, Lovers NO. Izzie is also having a hard time being like Christina, and she knows that she can never be that way. If I was her, I know the women in the hospital was upset her Husband was in the emergency room, but I would have told her firmly that she tried her best to stay on the case, and she understands that she told her she would keep her updated, but there has been more then one person on their life line today and she was taken off the case to work on others who might die as well, the doctors are taking care of her husband and they will come down to tell her how he is doing when the can. Do not dare come and tell me that my morals are screwed up. OOhhh I can keep going but I know it’s just a show. LOL.

Poor George was stuck in the middle of a battle between Baily and her husband. I can understand him getting upset cus he never sees his wife, but he has to understand she can’t just leave a man on the table to have lunch with him. That was very selfish of him. I love how at the end Baily asks if she needs to replace the stitches cus they look unlined, and George knows she just needs to stay busy and tells her yes.

Christina finally opens up to Lexie who just lost her first patient and brings her to Meredith’s house. They all start drinking together and dancing. I loved this scene they looked so cute dancing around the room. Does this mean Meredith and Lexie might have a relationship? I hope so, I like these two on screen together.

Physical Attraction…

Filed under: Grey's Anatomy, Season 4 — Wrote by Kristin on Monday, November 12th, 2007 @ 10:02 am

Per abc.com

George and Izzie finally have sex — and it’s horrible! Izzie despairs that they don’t have chemistry anymore and tries everything, including booze, to get it back. (I can’t believe they don’t have chemistry. Is this the end of George and Izzie? I’m really not sure if I like these two together. I just feel like Izzie needs someone more like Deny. They really had chemistry on scene. I did love these two on screen though, they were too funny. I love how Izzie tries to be sexy and brings out the bottle of booze. Lets see if these two can get it together. )

Mark jokes that Derek is the Chief’s girlfriend when he finds out he’s running errands like dry cleaning for him and spending his evenings having dinner and a movie with the Chief. Mark takes offense when Derek tells him he has no chance with Erica since Mark “has no substance.” (This scene is funny. I’m glad these two are getting along now, they act great together. )

Callie pleads with Miranda to take over her scheduling duties because she just wants to do surgeries, which make her happy. Miranda agrees and her advice includes counseling Cristina to find a new specialty when Erica kicks her off the cardio rotation. Cristina scrubs in on a bone surgery with Callie but misses the finesse of heart surgery. (Miranda takes over for Callie and it just proves once again that she should have been chosen as Chief. But I guess if she had been chosen first none of this would be happening. She makes Cristina do more then just heart surgery to see if she would like another field. But it is obvious that Cristinas heart is into heart surgery. It’s what she loves and I hope she fights back to get what she wants. )

A distraught mother comes in: she dropped her baby in a fall down the stairs and doesn’t know if it’s breathing. The baby is fine but the mother collapses with broken ribs and a collapsed lung. The father arrives and is too busy focusing on his wife to bother with the baby, whom they had just adopted and hadn’t even given a name to yet. He tells Lexie if his wife doesn’t make it, he’s going to give the baby back since he can’t raise her on his own. (This is very heart wrenching. How can you give away your baby just because your wife might die, even though she adopted she is still your baby. Lexie makes him realize later that this baby needs him as much as he needs the baby.)

Lexie is upset because she’d been making progress in her relationship with Meredith and after finding out about her tryst with Alex, Meredith won’t speak to her anymore. Alex says he’s up for sex anytime but suggests they not meet at her house, to avoid Meredith. Alex and Meredith are stuck outside their house while Izzie and George try to jump start their chemistry, and just then Lexie shows up to ask Alex out for a drink. Meredith chews her out, telling Lexie to get her own friends and her own life. Lexie says she’ll wait for Alex at the bar. Alex asks Meredith why any of this matters to her, since she supposedly doesn’t care about Lexie at all. (Meredith was mean to Lexie, but this time Lexie doesn’t take her crap and tells her off. Alex also tells Meredith that she is wrong in what she is doing.)

While Erica operates on the woman with the collapsed lung, Lexie asks Meredith if the patient is going to make it, since the fate of the baby rests on the outcome and Meredith points out she’s busy. Lexie sits with the husband while they wait for news about his wife. Meredith updates the husband on his wife’s progress and then adds, obviously because of Lexie’s intervention, that while his wife bonded instantly with the baby, maybe the husband needs a little more time for them to feel like a family. The man admits that he knows five things about the baby, a lot more than he thought he did. (Meredith’s speech gives Lexie hope that maybe she was talking about there relationship and it will just take Meredith time to accept her as her sister.)

Unfortunately, Erica is unable to save the wife’s badly damaged lung and she dies. The husband comes to see the baby and says he’s remembered a sixth thing and he’s going to name her Keshia, because that’s the name her mother had chosen. (Lexie’s speech worked as the husband comes back to be with his baby.)

Richard gets suspicious that Miranda’s really been the one behind all the recent scheduling and advice and she demurs, telling him to ask Callie about it. He catches up with Callie, who says she’s busy with surgery, but that she’ll “get on” the schedule tomorrow. He tells her there’s no need. Richard informs Miranda that he knows she’s been doing the job of Chief Resident but getting none of the credit. He tells her she deserves the credit and the job and that he should have given her the job in the first place because she’s the one who makes the hospital work. “It’s about time you noticed,” says says and breaks into tears before hugging him. (Miranda tries to play things off by telling the Chief that if it was her she would do things this way and that is probably why Callie did that, but you would have to ask her. The Chief doesn’t buy it as he goes to tell Callie that she if fired!)

Lexie asks Alex to meet her later in the on-call room and he turns her down, saying he doesn’t want to get between her and Meredith. Lexie goes to see Meredith and tells her five things about herself, saying she hopes that makes it harder for Meredith to hate her. (Lexie tells Alex that he is taking Meredith over her and leaves…She also leaves Meredith in silence as she tells her the 5 things about herself. Will these two ever get along?)

At Joe’s, Mark offers to buy Erica a drink, telling her how much he admires her technique as a surgeon, and she tells him he’s only attracted to her skill, but not to her. And that she’s not attracted to him. (I really don’t like Erica’s role in this, but I do like how she tells Mark why he is attracted to her. She puts him in his place and Mark is left speechless).

Alex tells Meredith he’s broken things off with Lexie, who’s passed out in her seat at Joe’s and Meredith asks Alex to take her sister home. When they get there, Lexie’s dad comes out. He’s drunk and about to drive to the store for more liquor. Alex offers to run the errand for him and Lexie begs him not to tell Meredith. (You know this is bound to come out, and this just might bring these two closer together.)

George and Izzie bask in the glow of good sex — until they realize the other one is lying and it’s still as bad as ever. (I could predict that these two aren’t going to work out, but they love each other, so how will they make this work? Why was it so great the first time? “Too many booze” that first night? Perhaps.)

Next Week on Greys

Kung Fu Fighting - Season 4

Filed under: Grey's Anatomy, Season 4 — Wrote by Kristin on Monday, November 5th, 2007 @ 4:32 pm

I’m going to try something different today. I’ll talk about what happened but I’m going to just give off :”My Thoughts” on the show.

So we finally think that Izzie and George are going to finally have hot sex after there “one night” of drunk passion. But it turns out that at the end of the show Izzie starts crying and tells George that she is sorry but she is just so tired. This scene is very funny as we see Izzie break down over just being to tired to have sex. George okay’s it and they end up just going to sleep.

Meredith can’t sleep and Cristina diagnoses severe abandonment issues. She wonders if maybe Meredith should stop having “breakup sex” with Derek. - I think Meredith needs to make her mind before someone else takes Derek away from her. I love these two together but it just seems like it’s never going to fully happen.

Meredith then starts wondering why her brush with death didn’t inspire her love for Derek. After having sex with Derek she lies in his arms and starts telling him how she felt and how she remembers him saving her. - I felt like this would have been the perfect time to tell Derek ” I Love You”, but once again nothing happened.

Two wmen come in injured after competing for the wedding of their dreams, but the contest isn’t over and Mark makes George fill in for the one of the girls who needs to have surgery on her shoulder. The girl doesn’t want the surgery she just wants to get back to the contest, and Callie is furious over the fact all she cares about is this dress. Lexie steps in and tells her she hopes her hair is going to be down cus with out the surgery she might have a hump on her back. (This part was too funny), the women caves in and wants the surgery. .

Cristina wants in on the cardio surgery but Izzie wants to keep it. They find out the man is allergic to the anesthesia and they can’t perform on him. Izzie is about the give up but Cristina fins out that they can do it with out the anesthesia, all they have to do is use a local epidural which will leave the patient awake but keep him numb from the neck down. Erica tells Izzie to prep herself for the surgery, and Cristina is shocked that she found out the information and isn’t preping in for the surgery. Erica tells Cristina she can watch like everyone else. (I am still warming up to Erica, I really don’t like her character, I like that she is a bitch but I just don’t like the actress I guess.)

Richard proposed a gentelmens night out to Derek and Mark, But they aren’t sure what this means. (This is funny as they try to figure out what they will be doing together). They ask Erica but she brushes them off and insinuates that they may be “gay”.

Cristina watches the awake surgery from the gallery and marvels how Izzie thought to put a balloon with a drawing of a bird on it in the patient’s eye line to keep him focused. Derek confesses that Meredith won’t let him take care of her anymore and Cristina says it’s okay because she’s taking care of Meredith. (I think this scene was great, but why doesn’t Derek just talk to Meredith himself and tell her how he feels?)

The heart patient starts to freak out but Izzie soon calms him down after telling him to focus on the people up there, just imagine them birds, what kind of birds are they. He goes on to explain a few of them and he starts to calm down quickly.

George is still holding onto the dress when the second contestant collapses. The bride with the shoulder injury wakes from surgery and only wants to know if she’s won the contest. Callie chews her out for not caring that the woman she stood next to for two days nearly died. “You shouldn’t fight this hard for a wedding, you should fight this hard for a marriage,” Callie tells her and says you have to know when it’s time to let go. (We know she is talking about herself here, and maybe she has finally realized that it’s time to move on.)

Callie bumps into George in the hallway and George is surprised that she is talking to him. She finally tells him that she knows she has “to let go”.

Mark and Derek are still trying to figure out what Richard has planned when he shows up with Erica, they all end up playing Monopoly. (lol).

Lexie and Alex end up leaving the hospital together and she asks his plans for the evening. He tells her all she could hope for is sex from him and “that’s never enough for girls like you.”

Meredith tells Cristina she can’t give up sleeping with Derek, because it’s not about the sex, it’s about the moment afterwards, when she feels safe in his arms. She asks if that makes her pathetic and Cristina says, “A little bit.”

Meredith opens the door of her bedroom to find Lexie and Alex half-naked together in the hallway and Lexie is horrified to realize that Meredith is his roommate.

I kind of like Lexie and Alex together but we all know there is going to be a triangle between him and Lexie and Alex and Ava. Ava has to return after that one night with him. So we’ll see what happens there. :)
