Lady’s of America + Different Location + Better Attitude = MEMBERSHIP

A new experience

I went after work yesterday with my head held high and shoulders pulled back and I told the Manager at a different location what I wanted. (Okay so I didn’t exactly get what I wanted, but I did get a pretty good deal). The manager = Jennifer. Really nice and friendly, the environment just felt different. She showed me around and offered me her best offer, I negotiated a little and I was able to go down to only a year membership contract. Better then 2 right?

Lady of America

First Impressions

I went on line and saw they had a promotion to sign up with $0 down, when I got there they had a little tent with signs everywhere, I happen to get there just on time because it ended yesterday. She also made me feel very comfortable. At the other Lady of America it just felt like a lot of talk and nothing was happening. The place was also a bit smaller, but I wasn’t taking that into consideration because they did have classes I liked. Good thing, I checked this different location out though, because they have pretty good classes and it’s closer to my boyfriends house. :)

Get Started

Today I have class so I plan on trying out the 7:30 class. They also offer that a trainer help you for a week and they can even set up a meal schedule for you if you want. I definitely will take this to my advantage.

Lady of America – Rude Owner

Yesterday I decided to start my free trial at the Lady’s of America on Coral Way and 85th Ave. I had a 3 day free trial, I planned on negotiating pricing after the 3 days. However, Alexis which is the sales representative wanted to get started. I flat out told him I could get a better deal else where and that I will do no more then $75 down with 20 dollars a month, NO Contract. He asked the Owners son in front of me, He stated that he can only get me $100 down at 29.99 a month at a 1 year contract. I told him, NO and the offers I have received.

BACK AND FORTH

We went back and forth for about 20 minutes, Alexis was a strong sales person. Honestly when I met him I thought he was a little full of himself, and in a way he is LOL, but he genuinely wants to make a sale and give you a good deal. Finally he offered $75 down at $22.50 a month NO Contract. He went to tell the boss’s son, and he said it was fine, but Alexis wasn’t going to get commission on it. Alexis was willing to do this to get me in. As I hand him my license to start the process, the Owner comes in. OH How I wish I had gotten her name. She comes in asking Alexis what we figured out and he told her.

THEN THE RUDENESS…..

So unprofessionally she states that she cannot and will not do that deal. I told her when I came in on Saturday, Alexis was willing to give me $75 down at $25 a month with NO Contract. She said that Alexis should had told me that ended Saturday and that I should have come in Saturday for that deal. I told her that I wasn’t going to go in the pouring rain with thunder to sign a contract. I work and have school and this was the only day I could come in. You should had heard the tone in her voice. I am or was a potential client, how dare she come in and retract the offer that her son said to go ahead with and how dare she talk to me to me like that. I simply stood up told her that if she wanted to run a good business she needed to learn how to negotiate, I wasn’t going to pay more here when I can get a better deal some place else. I looked at Alexis said sorry call me if you want to give me the offer and walked out.

I was so FURIOUS

I headed home, wasted time with about 45 minutes of my day, and without a single workout in hand and NO Contract of any sort. Alexis called me shortly after to apologize, I told him she was very rude and unprofessional. He was pissed and let it be known. He said that if he can still get me a deal, if he could call me. I told him he can but she can’t. I honestly don’t know if I would like to even go that Lady of America after what just happened.

Would you go if they offered you the right price?

Going to the Gym

Filed under: Every Day Thoughts,Gym,Kristin Nicole's Thoughts — Wrote by Kristin on Tuesday, June 9th, 2009 @ 6:27 am

Going to the gym sometimes feels like a chore. You have to push yourself to do something you really don’t like, but you know you should or have to do it.

I searched on line for a few gyms, one of the biggest ones are Balley’s and LA Fitness. There are few that fellow Yelpers recommended, but I would need one a little close to the house since my schedule is a little busy.

My schedule:

Monday’s I usually go up to Pembroke Pines where my parents live and I stay there, so I would need a gym that had classes starting at 4:30pm. (This is pretty hard to find but I did find one gym that offers this). I go to school in Kendall Tuesday and Thursdays, so it would be preferable that the gym is on the way to my boyfriends house and not passed it. Wednesday’s depend on which Wednesday it is. Every other Wednesday I get my nails done so when I am free, I would like classes that started at 4:30 if possible, the days I have my nail appointment it would have to be around 6:30. Friday’s I most likely won’t go, but if I do, I have acupuncture appointments every Friday, so the class would have to be around 5:30 if I rushed over there on time. So as you can see, I have a pretty busy schedule, but I know I have to stop and make time to go to the gym.

Classes I want them to offer:

I would prefer, Yoga, Pilates, Zumba and Kick Boxing

Working Out

Gyms I had in mind:

So I looked into Bally’s total fitness and the classes they offer aren’t many and the times do not really coincide with my schedule.

LA fitness is pretty much the same.

I also wouldn’t prefer these gyms because I have heard many negative comments about them.

I looked into a few that fellow Yelpers commented about but they are a bit out of my way.

I am most recently looking into Lady’s of America. The one closest to my boyfriends house doesn’t have the schedule I need, so I looked into one a bit further but still on the way to my boyfriends house from school. The only thing is they want to charge me 75 dollars down at 25 a month. I want to try to lower that deal. I’m going to try the free 3 day trial. (Which by the way, used to be a week). After the 3 days I am going to tell him what I am willing to pay and tell him to call me if he can do it. If he can’t, then I’ll have to decide if it’s really worth paying what he is offering or looking for another gym. I can also go talk to other Lady of America’s since they are all privately owned. (FYI: You can own your own franchise of Lady of America’s).

I’ll let you know how it goes. I start my free 3 day trial today after school. It’s going to be a late night.
