Angels Hands – Rodney Atkins (Lyrics)

Filed under: Every Day Thoughts,Kristin Nicole's Thoughts,Music, Shows, Events,Random Thoughts — Wrote by Kristin on Monday, February 22nd, 2010 @ 3:03 pm

I heard this song recently, and I thought it was a really good song, with really sad lyrics. My interpretation of the song is that it’s telling two stories. The first one is a mom talking to her son and the second one is a mother and father talking to their daughter and the daughter talking back. It’s a good song, you should check it out, I added this video, it only shows the lyrics, the other one I found didn’t have a link to put on the site, and I couldn’t find an official video. If anyone can find one that I can post, PLEASE let me know.

Angles Hands – Lyrics

She said I’ve been up all night and half-scared to death
I can smell the liquor on your breath
I paid for your rehab with my ira
boy your daddy’s be turning in his grave
she said son I’ve done all mama can do
I can save myself but I can’t save you

he said I wished you and Jesus would get off my back
they said his truck was doing 90 when he crashed
I bet it gets so quiet in heaven sometimes
even god cries when an angels hands are tied

they said honey grown-ups do this all the time
and tears welled up in their little girls eyes
they said now it’s not something that you’ve done
it just that mommy and daddy don’t get along

she said do you guys mean that you need a time out
and that daddy’s gonna move to a different house
they said you’ll have two bedrooms you’re a lucky kid
she said what about checkers, where’s he gonna live
I bet it gets so quiet in heaven sometimes
even god cries when an angels hands are tied

she prays, angels watch me through the night
stay by my side till morning light
god bless mama, god bless daddy
keep us together and happy
I bet it gets so quiet in heaven sometimes
even god cries when an angels hands are tied

~Great song, hope you enjoyed it.

If you have a favorite song you want to talk about please let me know, so that I can check it out.

American Idol’ reveals top 24 semifinalists

Filed under: Every Day Thoughts,Kristin Nicole's Thoughts,Music, Shows, Events,Random Thoughts,TV Shows, Movies — Wrote by Kristin on Thursday, February 18th, 2010 @ 3:56 pm

Have you been watching American Idol lately? Well normally I don’t watch it much anymore, truly after the first American Idol they had a few people that won that I just didn’t agree on, and I think I was right, because where are they now? The only other true singer besides Kelly Clarkson was Carrie Underwood, where well…no one! There were some good singers but just not great singers, and I feel it’s more about popular votes instead of who truly has the best voice.

This year however, I’ve caught a few episodes but mostly because I wanted to see Ellen as a judge. I just love her and I just knew she would bring a comical presence to American Idol, something I think they have been lacking. I honestly don’t miss Paula Abdul. Don’t get me wrong, I like her, but she just isn’t someone you miss on the show. I can’t say the same for Simon when he leaves next season. I don’t know what American Idol is going to do…but that’s another subject. Lets get to the top 24 semifinalists….

Semifinalists:

Tim Urban, 20, Andrew Garcia, 24, Moreno Valley, Calif.; Tyler Grady, 20, Nazareth, Pa.; Alex Lambert, 19, North Richland Hills, Texas; Joe Munoz, 20, Huntington Park, Calif.; John Park, 21, Evanston, Ill.; and Jermaine Sellers, 27, Joliet, Ill.

Janell Wheeler, 24, Tampa Florida, Crystal Bowersox, 24, Toledo, Ohio; Lacey Brown, 24, Amarillo, Texas; Michelle Delamor, 22, Miami; Siobhan Magnus, 20, Marstons Mills, Mass.; Paige Miles, 24, Houston, Texas; Ashley Rodriguez, 22, Chelsea, Mass.; Lilly Scott, 20, Denver; Katie Stevens, 17, Middlebury, Conn.; and Haeley Vaughn, 16, Fort Collins, Colo., Didi Benami, 23, Los Angeles; Lee Dewyze, 23, Mount Prospect, Ill.; Katelyn Epperly, 19, West Des Moines, Iowa; Aaron Kelly, 16, Sonestown, Pa.; Casey James, 27, Fort Worth, Texas; Todrick Hall, 24, Arlington, Texas and Michael “Big Mike” Lynche, 26, Astoria, N.Y.

Congratulations, and I hope that there is a true star within these 24 semifinalists.

We Are The World 25 For Haiti – Official Video

Filed under: Every Day Thoughts,Kristin Nicole's Thoughts,Music, Shows, Events,Random Thoughts — Wrote by Kristin on Tuesday, February 16th, 2010 @ 8:17 am

Did you see the new remake for ‘We Are The World’? I don’t know what to think about it. I heard Jay-Z say he didn’t like it, I can’t say the same. I don’t think it’s horrible, but of course it’s no original. Check it out:

My thoughts:

I thought it was good, I think we see the new singers of today’s generation mixed with a few from the past and I think it’s wonderful for them to come together and try to re-do this song after 25 years and dedicate it to Haiti’s disaster. I love the fact they kept Micheal Jackson in the song and video, I don’t think I would have liked it other wise. He is the one person who truly makes this song GREAT! It’s sad that he isn’t here with us today, to be able to be a part of this re-make, but I think he would be proud never the less, to see everyone come together to help such a cause. The only thing I really would have loved to see, is a little more people from the original song come join in, that’s the only thing I felt was truly missing.

The original will always be the best, like any original, but I think they all did a great job coming together and making it a little modern.

If you are a bigger fan of the original check out:

There really is nothing better then the original.

Valentine’s Plans & More…

Filed under: Every Day Thoughts,Holidays,Kristin Nicole's Thoughts,Music, Shows, Events,Random Thoughts,Relationships — Wrote by Kristin on Tuesday, February 9th, 2010 @ 9:36 am

Valentine’s Day

Another Valentine’s is here, yes a year as passed by and now we are getting close to the day we all celebrate our love for one another. What are your plans for Valentine weekend?

My Plans

This year my boyfriend and I decided to go to Orlando, we did this for our first Valentine’s trip together and we thought it would be fun to do again. The last time we did this it was freezing that weekend and it seems that this weekend will be pretty cold up there again. I’m looking forward to it, it beats being all sweaty, standing in lines at the Parks. Other then going up to Orlando we don’t really have anything planned, just take each day as it comes and plan from there. Sometimes not planning and just going with the flow is the best part.

Romantic Ideas:

Any romantic ideas? This year Valentines is on a Sunday and if you have to work the next day like me you can always celebrate your Valentine on Saturday night instead of Sunday. However, I know most people do have Monday off, and that works out perfectly for those celebrating Valentines on Sunday. You can do a picnic in the park, or a walk on the beach, the weather is going to be perfect this weekend if you live in Miami. If you don’t live in Miami and it’s cold, snuggle up by a fire place, have some drinks, with dessert and light some candles all around the room, I’m sure that will set the mood. Dinner is always the number one thing people do, you can either go out to dinner, or make dinner at the house. Valentines isn’t the only time we have to be romantic but for some reason that’s the day everyone usually goes all out. So if you have any ideas you want to share PLEASE let us know.

Dedicate a song:

My boyfriend brought to my attention a new singer by the name of Kina Grannis, she is very good and was “discovered” cause she wrote a song about Digg (the website) and put it on youtube, she was signed to a label but then dropped for some reason, she now is getting ready to release her new independent album. (I just got this information from a comment that Kina was signed to Interscope Records but decided to part ways with them because they had a different vision for her music then she had in mind.–Thanks for the info). Take a look at her song called “VALENTINE”:

or you can check out her website at KinaGrannis.com . Kina’s song is written for Valentines Day, stating ‘will you be my Valentine’? It’s a great song and I think many of you will enjoy it. You can also download her new single on the link above.

Happy Valentines!

Saints win Super Bowl XLIV

Filed under: Daily News,Every Day Thoughts,Kristin Nicole's Thoughts,Music, Shows, Events,Random Thoughts,Sports — Wrote by Kristin on Monday, February 8th, 2010 @ 11:41 am

The Saints vs The Colts….

The Saints win the Super Bowl for the first time. The game was incredible from beginning to end. The Colts brought a tough game to the field but the Saints came in and took over, taking on risky plays and making an interception in the 4th quarter. Wow this game was hot!

Oh when the Saints came marching in….

Personally I was going for the Colts, but only because I really wanted the Vikings to go to the Super Bowl and the Saints beat them so I went for the Colts and also because Manning is one of the best quarter backs right now, but not falling too far behind was Drew Brees with incredible plays that won the championship 31-17. Even though I was going for the Colts I was happy for the Saints, they deserved it.

Did you see the opening acts, commercials and half time?!?

Wow Carrie Underwood, I can’t say it enough, she’s not only beautiful, but she has a tremendous voice, when she sang I think everyone had tears in their eyes. What a perfect opening to a great game. The commercials this year were incredibly funny, the Doritos commercials, Career Builders, and Oprah with David Letterman and Jay Leno; commercials that had us laughing all night long. The half time show, some say wasn’t that good, well if you don’t know ‘The Who’ then you may have not enjoyed it, this band has been around for a long time, and the song they sang if you watch the oh so famous CSI Miami, well that’s their intro, so I thought it fit perfect to a perfect night and a perfect game. The stage presence was the best part, it was just phenomenal. On top of that the night was just filled with great food, drinks and friends. My only wish, that Super Bowl would be on a Saturday instead of a Sunday, that would make it a lot better for us to keep partying and enjoy sleeping in the next day instead of having to come to work. Oh well…another enjoyable super bowl.

Congrats Saints!

Lady Antebellum – Need You Now Lyrics

Filed under: Every Day Thoughts,Kristin Nicole's Thoughts,Music, Shows, Events,Random Thoughts — Wrote by Kristin on Friday, February 5th, 2010 @ 9:02 am

Need You Now Lyrics

Picture perfect memories scattered all around the floor
Reachin for the phone cause I can’t fight it anymore
And I wonder if I ever crossed your mind
For me it happens all the time

It’s a quarter after one, I’m all alone and I need you now
Said I wouldn’t call but I lost all control and I need you now
And I don’t know how I can do without
I just need you now

Another shot of whiskey can’t stop looking at the door
Wishing you’d come sweeping in the way you did before
And I wonder if I ever cross your mind
For me it happens all the time

It’s a quarter after one, I’m a little drunk and I need you now
Said I wouldn’t call but I lost all control and I need you now
And I don’t know how I can do without
I just need you now

Guess I’d rather hurt than feel nothin at all
It’s a quarter after one I’m all alone and I need you now
And I said I wouldn’t call but I’m a little drunk and I need you now
And I don’t know how I can do without
I just need you now
I just need you now

Ooo, baby, I need you now

–My thoughts–

I just love this song, I just recently heard about Lady Antebellum when watching the Grammys and I have to say that I have truly fallen in love with their music. This song I’m sure many people relate to, personally I have never called anyone while I was drunk, I always made sure someone had my phone if that was the case, but I know many friends who have “drunk dialed”. One of my favorite lyrics in this song is “Picture perfect memories scattered all around the floor
Reachin for the phone cause I can’t fight it anymore
And I wonder if I ever crossed your mind
For me it happens all the time” Picture perfect memories scattered all around the floor, this is so typical for most girls to have pictures lying around of what used to be with an ex boyfriend or girlfriend, and wondering if you are crossing their minds like they are in yours it’s part of what most people go through when breaking up with someone. My opinion, don’t ever drunk dial, not all stories will be like this song, the guy/girl won’t always be thinking of you in the same way.
Personally throw away any memories that you have lying around your room, it’s so much easier to move on that way.

I still love this song though and if you haven’t heard songs from Lady Antebellum, I recommend that you do.

Stars gather to cover `We Are the World’ for Haiti

Filed under: Daily News,Every Day Thoughts,Kristin Nicole's Thoughts,Music, Shows, Events,Random Thoughts — Wrote by Kristin on Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010 @ 7:59 am

The story:

I think it is absolutely incredible all these wonderful stars coming together to re do the song “We Are the World”. I was watching the original on youtube.com , and these new and older artist really have to bring it to the table. 80 Artist have come together in the same studio where the original was shot in Hollywood, 25 years ago. They say “We Are the World — 25 for Haiti” will premiere this month during coverage of the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics on NBC, according to a release from promoter AEG Live. To read more on this story click Here

My thoughts:

Wow, I just find this so incredible, New Artist paired up with some of the legends of music, to come together to sing a song that Michael Jackson did 25 years ago, it is sad he can’t be here with us to sing it, I hope they put footage of Michael in the video as well, it wouldn’t be the same without Micheal’s vocals and presence (even if it is only in a video). I love this song, I always have, it reminds me of my 5th grade graduation, we sang this song on stage that night. Although I was only 3 years old when they made this song for USA for Africa and I didn’t know what it was made for or why, the words alone just melt your heart. It’s an incredible song, and I can’t wait to see the New Re-make of it.

My thoughts:

I agree with most of the choices of who won and who deserved to win, however there is one that truly bothers me. Don’t get me wrong I like Taylor Swift but Album of the Year, really??? Over the Black Eyed Peas, Beyonce, and Lady Gaga, I just don’t see it. I also don’t see how she won Best Country Vocal Performance against Carrie Underwood & the others who were nominated for that category. I mean really, have you compared the two??? I just don’t see it, I wonder who votes for the Grammy winners. Other then that, I was really happy with who won, Jason Mraz, just LOVE HIM, Won 2 Grammy’s. Beyonce made history with the most Female Artist who won in one night, and Everyone who won were great performers. The night was great, One of the best I’ve seen in a long time! It’s going to be a great 2010!

Simon Cowell’s last season on American Idol…What now?

Filed under: Daily News,Every Day Thoughts,Kristin Nicole's Thoughts,Music, Shows, Events,Random Thoughts,TV Shows, Movies — Wrote by Kristin on Tuesday, January 12th, 2010 @ 9:01 am

Oh Simon….

First Paula now Simon? It’s confirmed all over the news and radio that Simon Cowell’s last season on American Idol will be this season. People are worried that American Idol won’t exist after he’s gone, and some hope that it will continue on. This is American Idols 9th season, can you believe it? Simon has been working on a show in Britain called the X-Factor, it’s become one of the most popular shows there, and he is wanting to bring it to the US. Here he will be a judge and produce the show as well. He wants a challenge and this is it.

Will American Idol survive?

I don’t know that American Idol will survive much longer. They have had a few successes from their contestants but most of them haven’t even been the winners of American Idol. I believe there is only 2 of them who have won and have become huge stars, Kelly Clarkson & Carry Underwoood, my favorites of them all. They are true talent and unfortunately a lot of times these reality shows are based on popularity. As you can see, where are half of the other so called American Idols? I stopped watching American Idol a long time ago, when you can see that the people winning didn’t really have the talent to be an American Idol yet were still winning the crown. I didn’t see the full show when Carry Underwood was on, but caught a few episodes and fell in love with her instantly. Great singers will prove themselves & I think Kelly & Carrie have done just that. Daughtry wasn’t even a winner yet has had a wonderful career, I also like his band, great music and great talent. However, now with Simon leaving next season I think the show will drop, he’s the biggest one on the show, and I hate to say it because the guy is a complete a** but he’s what people tune in to see. Paula Abdul left and even though many fans were upset it really wasn’t or isn’t a huge make or break deal. A lot of people don’t think Ellen DeGeneres can bring what the show needs, but I personally just LOVE HER! She’s great, funny and I think she’ll be a little more honest then Paula was, you can’t just always double coat everything with niceness. I don’t know that I’ll watch American Idol this season, but I might take a few peaks just to see how Ellen is doing.

I guess we’ll all just have to wait until this season is over to see where American Idol will lead us.
