Grey’s Anatomy Season 4 Finale

Filed under: Grey's Anatomy, Season 4 — Wrote by Kristin on Sunday, May 25th, 2008 @ 2:32 pm

So Grey’s Anatomy Season 4 as come to an end. But you need to see the show to fully understand and grab the concept of the lessons each resident learned. The show was great. I saw it twice, I couldn’t get enough.

On the two-hour season finale of “Grey’s Anatomy,” Meredith and Derek have one last shot at a successful outcome in their clinical trial, and it’s a must see, to see how these two work together, as the other surgeons work together to free a boy from a hardening block of cement. He was given a bet to sit in cement and he did it for a girl who can’t admit to her other friends that she truly does like him. The team works great together. Meanwhile, Izzie helps Alex care for a going crazy Rebecca, and Lexie discovers critical information about George’s intern status. This is a must see season finale. I am telling you, I had to watch it twice. If you haven’t seen it already, you can go to abc.com and watch the episodes there. The only thing I didn’t like about it, is that you have to download a program to watch the shows, and they have a few commercials, but it’s great if you weren’t able to catch the show on Thursday.

Crash Into Me - Part Two

Filed under: Grey's Anatomy, Season 4 — Wrote by Kristin on Friday, December 7th, 2007 @ 11:09 am

So last nights episode was Great as usual. I love how they started it from the end.

Lets start with Alex and Ava/Rebecca. I can’t believe he let her sit in on the surgery and he got busted by Sloan cus he recognized is own work. Why would you let her sit in when Sloan is the Doctor on the Surgery?! It drove me crazy how he kept looking up at her instead of paying attention to the surgery. At the end he ended up telling her off, how she wants to pretend to be someone and that he doesn’t think she is there to talk and then kisses her. I would have told him off, but she just took it and kissed him back. Where is this going?

Meredith finally tells Derek that she doesn’t want him to date anyone else and is finally opening up. But is she too late? A part of me understands Derek moving on, he’s waited for her for so long and now just because she is ready he’s supposed to stop what he’s doing. Another part of me is super upset that he kissed the new girl……He just told her not so long ago he wanted to marry her now he’s over her and kissing other women?! Ohhh that got me so upset. I really don’t like this triangle they are starting to create.

Izzie and George, what is going on with them?? Are they a couple, are they not a couple? This is the question? I know they don’t have chemistry but what was the talk about maybe someday? You either have it or you don’t. And these two clearly don’t have chemistry. Best Friends yes, Lovers NO. Izzie is also having a hard time being like Christina, and she knows that she can never be that way. If I was her, I know the women in the hospital was upset her Husband was in the emergency room, but I would have told her firmly that she tried her best to stay on the case, and she understands that she told her she would keep her updated, but there has been more then one person on their life line today and she was taken off the case to work on others who might die as well, the doctors are taking care of her husband and they will come down to tell her how he is doing when the can. Do not dare come and tell me that my morals are screwed up. OOhhh I can keep going but I know it’s just a show. LOL.

Poor George was stuck in the middle of a battle between Baily and her husband. I can understand him getting upset cus he never sees his wife, but he has to understand she can’t just leave a man on the table to have lunch with him. That was very selfish of him. I love how at the end Baily asks if she needs to replace the stitches cus they look unlined, and George knows she just needs to stay busy and tells her yes.

Christina finally opens up to Lexie who just lost her first patient and brings her to Meredith’s house. They all start drinking together and dancing. I loved this scene they looked so cute dancing around the room. Does this mean Meredith and Lexie might have a relationship? I hope so, I like these two on screen together.

Physical Attraction…

Filed under: Grey's Anatomy, Season 4 — Wrote by Kristin on Monday, November 12th, 2007 @ 10:02 am

Per abc.com

George and Izzie finally have sex — and it’s horrible! Izzie despairs that they don’t have chemistry anymore and tries everything, including booze, to get it back. (I can’t believe they don’t have chemistry. Is this the end of George and Izzie? I’m really not sure if I like these two together. I just feel like Izzie needs someone more like Deny. They really had chemistry on scene. I did love these two on screen though, they were too funny. I love how Izzie tries to be sexy and brings out the bottle of booze. Lets see if these two can get it together. )

Mark jokes that Derek is the Chief’s girlfriend when he finds out he’s running errands like dry cleaning for him and spending his evenings having dinner and a movie with the Chief. Mark takes offense when Derek tells him he has no chance with Erica since Mark “has no substance.” (This scene is funny. I’m glad these two are getting along now, they act great together. )

Callie pleads with Miranda to take over her scheduling duties because she just wants to do surgeries, which make her happy. Miranda agrees and her advice includes counseling Cristina to find a new specialty when Erica kicks her off the cardio rotation. Cristina scrubs in on a bone surgery with Callie but misses the finesse of heart surgery. (Miranda takes over for Callie and it just proves once again that she should have been chosen as Chief. But I guess if she had been chosen first none of this would be happening. She makes Cristina do more then just heart surgery to see if she would like another field. But it is obvious that Cristinas heart is into heart surgery. It’s what she loves and I hope she fights back to get what she wants. )

A distraught mother comes in: she dropped her baby in a fall down the stairs and doesn’t know if it’s breathing. The baby is fine but the mother collapses with broken ribs and a collapsed lung. The father arrives and is too busy focusing on his wife to bother with the baby, whom they had just adopted and hadn’t even given a name to yet. He tells Lexie if his wife doesn’t make it, he’s going to give the baby back since he can’t raise her on his own. (This is very heart wrenching. How can you give away your baby just because your wife might die, even though she adopted she is still your baby. Lexie makes him realize later that this baby needs him as much as he needs the baby.)

Lexie is upset because she’d been making progress in her relationship with Meredith and after finding out about her tryst with Alex, Meredith won’t speak to her anymore. Alex says he’s up for sex anytime but suggests they not meet at her house, to avoid Meredith. Alex and Meredith are stuck outside their house while Izzie and George try to jump start their chemistry, and just then Lexie shows up to ask Alex out for a drink. Meredith chews her out, telling Lexie to get her own friends and her own life. Lexie says she’ll wait for Alex at the bar. Alex asks Meredith why any of this matters to her, since she supposedly doesn’t care about Lexie at all. (Meredith was mean to Lexie, but this time Lexie doesn’t take her crap and tells her off. Alex also tells Meredith that she is wrong in what she is doing.)

While Erica operates on the woman with the collapsed lung, Lexie asks Meredith if the patient is going to make it, since the fate of the baby rests on the outcome and Meredith points out she’s busy. Lexie sits with the husband while they wait for news about his wife. Meredith updates the husband on his wife’s progress and then adds, obviously because of Lexie’s intervention, that while his wife bonded instantly with the baby, maybe the husband needs a little more time for them to feel like a family. The man admits that he knows five things about the baby, a lot more than he thought he did. (Meredith’s speech gives Lexie hope that maybe she was talking about there relationship and it will just take Meredith time to accept her as her sister.)

Unfortunately, Erica is unable to save the wife’s badly damaged lung and she dies. The husband comes to see the baby and says he’s remembered a sixth thing and he’s going to name her Keshia, because that’s the name her mother had chosen. (Lexie’s speech worked as the husband comes back to be with his baby.)

Richard gets suspicious that Miranda’s really been the one behind all the recent scheduling and advice and she demurs, telling him to ask Callie about it. He catches up with Callie, who says she’s busy with surgery, but that she’ll “get on” the schedule tomorrow. He tells her there’s no need. Richard informs Miranda that he knows she’s been doing the job of Chief Resident but getting none of the credit. He tells her she deserves the credit and the job and that he should have given her the job in the first place because she’s the one who makes the hospital work. “It’s about time you noticed,” says says and breaks into tears before hugging him. (Miranda tries to play things off by telling the Chief that if it was her she would do things this way and that is probably why Callie did that, but you would have to ask her. The Chief doesn’t buy it as he goes to tell Callie that she if fired!)

Lexie asks Alex to meet her later in the on-call room and he turns her down, saying he doesn’t want to get between her and Meredith. Lexie goes to see Meredith and tells her five things about herself, saying she hopes that makes it harder for Meredith to hate her. (Lexie tells Alex that he is taking Meredith over her and leaves…She also leaves Meredith in silence as she tells her the 5 things about herself. Will these two ever get along?)

At Joe’s, Mark offers to buy Erica a drink, telling her how much he admires her technique as a surgeon, and she tells him he’s only attracted to her skill, but not to her. And that she’s not attracted to him. (I really don’t like Erica’s role in this, but I do like how she tells Mark why he is attracted to her. She puts him in his place and Mark is left speechless).

Alex tells Meredith he’s broken things off with Lexie, who’s passed out in her seat at Joe’s and Meredith asks Alex to take her sister home. When they get there, Lexie’s dad comes out. He’s drunk and about to drive to the store for more liquor. Alex offers to run the errand for him and Lexie begs him not to tell Meredith. (You know this is bound to come out, and this just might bring these two closer together.)

George and Izzie bask in the glow of good sex — until they realize the other one is lying and it’s still as bad as ever. (I could predict that these two aren’t going to work out, but they love each other, so how will they make this work? Why was it so great the first time? “Too many booze” that first night? Perhaps.)

Kung Fu Fighting - Season 4

Filed under: Grey's Anatomy, Season 4 — Wrote by Kristin on Monday, November 5th, 2007 @ 4:32 pm

I’m going to try something different today. I’ll talk about what happened but I’m going to just give off :”My Thoughts” on the show.

So we finally think that Izzie and George are going to finally have hot sex after there “one night” of drunk passion. But it turns out that at the end of the show Izzie starts crying and tells George that she is sorry but she is just so tired. This scene is very funny as we see Izzie break down over just being to tired to have sex. George okay’s it and they end up just going to sleep.

Meredith can’t sleep and Cristina diagnoses severe abandonment issues. She wonders if maybe Meredith should stop having “breakup sex” with Derek. - I think Meredith needs to make her mind before someone else takes Derek away from her. I love these two together but it just seems like it’s never going to fully happen.

Meredith then starts wondering why her brush with death didn’t inspire her love for Derek. After having sex with Derek she lies in his arms and starts telling him how she felt and how she remembers him saving her. - I felt like this would have been the perfect time to tell Derek ” I Love You”, but once again nothing happened.

Two wmen come in injured after competing for the wedding of their dreams, but the contest isn’t over and Mark makes George fill in for the one of the girls who needs to have surgery on her shoulder. The girl doesn’t want the surgery she just wants to get back to the contest, and Callie is furious over the fact all she cares about is this dress. Lexie steps in and tells her she hopes her hair is going to be down cus with out the surgery she might have a hump on her back. (This part was too funny), the women caves in and wants the surgery. .

Cristina wants in on the cardio surgery but Izzie wants to keep it. They find out the man is allergic to the anesthesia and they can’t perform on him. Izzie is about the give up but Cristina fins out that they can do it with out the anesthesia, all they have to do is use a local epidural which will leave the patient awake but keep him numb from the neck down. Erica tells Izzie to prep herself for the surgery, and Cristina is shocked that she found out the information and isn’t preping in for the surgery. Erica tells Cristina she can watch like everyone else. (I am still warming up to Erica, I really don’t like her character, I like that she is a bitch but I just don’t like the actress I guess.)

Richard proposed a gentelmens night out to Derek and Mark, But they aren’t sure what this means. (This is funny as they try to figure out what they will be doing together). They ask Erica but she brushes them off and insinuates that they may be “gay”.

Cristina watches the awake surgery from the gallery and marvels how Izzie thought to put a balloon with a drawing of a bird on it in the patient’s eye line to keep him focused. Derek confesses that Meredith won’t let him take care of her anymore and Cristina says it’s okay because she’s taking care of Meredith. (I think this scene was great, but why doesn’t Derek just talk to Meredith himself and tell her how he feels?)

The heart patient starts to freak out but Izzie soon calms him down after telling him to focus on the people up there, just imagine them birds, what kind of birds are they. He goes on to explain a few of them and he starts to calm down quickly.

George is still holding onto the dress when the second contestant collapses. The bride with the shoulder injury wakes from surgery and only wants to know if she’s won the contest. Callie chews her out for not caring that the woman she stood next to for two days nearly died. “You shouldn’t fight this hard for a wedding, you should fight this hard for a marriage,” Callie tells her and says you have to know when it’s time to let go. (We know she is talking about herself here, and maybe she has finally realized that it’s time to move on.)

Callie bumps into George in the hallway and George is surprised that she is talking to him. She finally tells him that she knows she has “to let go”.

Mark and Derek are still trying to figure out what Richard has planned when he shows up with Erica, they all end up playing Monopoly. (lol).

Lexie and Alex end up leaving the hospital together and she asks his plans for the evening. He tells her all she could hope for is sex from him and “that’s never enough for girls like you.”

Meredith tells Cristina she can’t give up sleeping with Derek, because it’s not about the sex, it’s about the moment afterwards, when she feels safe in his arms. She asks if that makes her pathetic and Cristina says, “A little bit.”

Meredith opens the door of her bedroom to find Lexie and Alex half-naked together in the hallway and Lexie is horrified to realize that Meredith is his roommate.

I kind of like Lexie and Alex together but we all know there is going to be a triangle between him and Lexie and Alex and Ava. Ava has to return after that one night with him. So we’ll see what happens there. :)

Haunt You Everyday

Filed under: Grey's Anatomy, Season 4 — Wrote by Kristin on Friday, October 26th, 2007 @ 2:59 pm

It’s Halloween at Seattle Grace, Callie and Miranda instruct the residents to watch out for weirdos, and especially injuries related to the annual chainsaw pumpkin-carving contest. Izzie goes to ask a question and Callie tells Izzie to address her questions to Miranda. Christina and Meredith ask if they direct their questions to Dr. Baily as well and Callie tells them no just Izzie and when Izzie asks why only her Callie tells them all it’s it’s because Izzie’s been sleeping with her husband.

Meredith is surprised but supportive while Cristina goes off in disgust when they say they’re waiting to be together “out of respect for Callie.” When Mark hears that Callie is free, he offers to comfort her, day or night, especially night, but she just turns away and leaves.

Alex looks behind the drapes and finds Ava, she is disappointed that Alex didn’t come for her, so she shows up at the hospital, for him and they fall into bed together. He ignores a page from his intern, Norman, to stay with her.

A well-dressed man comes in, claiming that his left foot doesn’t belong to him, and asks Miranda to amputate it. Instead, she gets him a psych evaluation and some anti-anxiety medicine. She leaves to help another patient, who cut off his finger carving a pumpkin, he starts telling her how he cut off his finger and it’s still stuck in the chainsaw, and when he goes to look for it he starts screaming that someone took it. Miranda says Oh no and they hear the chainsaw start they find the man with the foot problem cutting off his own foot. When they finally sedate him, Callie has no choice but to cut off his foot.

Another patient has to face weather or not to take his own daughters heart. He was in the hospital for a heart transplant when his daughter comes in from an accident. She is a vegitable and they tell him that she is also a donor and he should take her heart. He doesn’t want to. He says he rather die then live every day with her heart. Dr. Hahn comes in to do the transplant and try to convince him but doesn’t have much words with him. She chooses Izzie to go into the operating room if they do the transplant over Christina. Telling Christina that she may have slept her way to the top before but she can’t this time. After Dr. Hahn leaves the room, George tells the man he doesn’t know how it feels to loose a child, but he does know how it feels to loose a parent. And he met his daughter earlier that day and he knows that she wanted him to live, and he knows that if he could have saved his father and given him his heart he would have. The man finally agrees to take his daughters heart.

Izzie later confronts Cristina for judging her for sleeping with a married man, accusing her of doing the exact same thing by sleeping with Burke. Cristina says it’s different because George was married, Burk was her boyfriend. Izzie points out that Meredith also slept with a married man but Cristina doesn’t care about that, because they have there little circle. She claims she would have defended Cristina to Dr. Hahn, if asked and tells Cristina to cut her some slack. Christina just walks away.

Derek pays a boy to tell Mark he’s his father. After the joke is over, the boy reveals why he’s really looking for Mark: He was born without ears and he wants the plastic surgeon to construct them for him, pro bono. Mark says he can volunteer his services, but he can’t ask any of the doctors or nurses to help as he’s got no “social capital” at the hospital. The nurses have even formed an anti-Mark club once they realized he was using the same pick-up lines on all of them! Meredith tells Mark that she may not be popular but her mother was and she is sure she can get an OR together. He says if she can do that, then he’ll do the surgery. Meredith goes around with the boy and convinces everyone to help out, by “trick or treating” with the boy, to show that every day is Halloween for a boy with no ears, until he gets the surgery. Miranda even blows off her first Halloween with her son to perform the surgery, which doesn’t go over well with her husband.

Mark is impressed that Meredith was able to round up all the necessary surgeons and a free OR and when she confesses that it was her first time trick-or-treating since her mother never made time for it, Mark looks at her in amazement and says, “The apple fell far from the tree, didn’t it?”

Adele is divorcing Richard, so he asks Cristina if Burke’s apartment is free and she tells him it is.

Cristina chews out Dr. Hahn for her “inappropriate” and “unprofessional” comments and insists she did not sleep her way to the top. Dr. Hahn laughs and says, “This is going to be so much fun.” Richard walks up at this point and announces that she has just agreed to be the new head of thoracic surgery. Cristina tells Richard that she’s taking back the apartment. Richard just stares confused at what just happened.

During surgery, Callie and Cristina bond over their doomed love lives, Callie starts off by saying her husband cheated on her and Christina follows saying she was left at the alter, they start laughing and all of a sudden Norman collapses. He’d been feeling bad all day and wanted to go home but Alex shamed him into staying and now he’s had a stroke. Alex finally answers his page and promises Ava he’ll be right back. When Norman comes to, he tells Alex that there was a little voice in his head urging him to choose surgery, even though he’s over 60 and blood makes him squeamish. He decides that voice was his late wife, who wanted to make sure he’d be surrounded by world-class surgeons when he had his stroke. He says he’s giving up surgery and switching to psychiatry and declares that all the surgeons could use a good shrink! When Alex goes looking for Ava, he finds just her shirt.

All the nurses start flirting with Derek and Mark confesses that he spread the word he was “looking” as payback for the stunt with the boy. Derek confides to Richard, who’s depressed over his divorce, that he’s depressed because he’s also going to have to start dating.

Spooked by a dream in which she finds herself talking to her own body in the morgue, Meredith blames the fact that she hasn’t put her mother’s ashes to rest. She takes the urn out of the back of her closet and puts the ashes in a baggie and takes them to work, which everyone else finds strange. Lexie tells Meredith that when her mother died, she decided to dig up the family cat and bury it with her, since her mother loved it so much, she tells her this story to try and get closer to Meredith and Meredith is touched by the story. Post-surgery the little boy, who saw Meredith with the ashes, tells her how he flushed his goldfish down the toilet, so it would go back to the ocean. Richard finds Meredith rinsing her mother’s ashes down the sink in an OR prep room. He tells her this is a sanitary place and she tells him that this is where she thinks her mother would want to be and Richard helps her, saying “Ashes to ashes.”

The Heart of the Matter - Season 4 Episode 4

George admits to Callie that he slept with Izzie, Callie tells George that she forgives him, they married for better or worse, they made vows to stay together forever, so she forgives him. George runs off to tell Izzie the bad news, bumping into carts and falling until finally being told she was on the 3rd floor. But before he can get to her, he sees Callie talking to her first. Callie tells Izzie in front of the interns to meet her in the cafeteria at noon.

Word quickly spreads through out the hospital that Callie is going to fight Izzie in the cafeteria . Alex asks Izzie what she did to piss Callie off. Izzie tells Alex he has to swear not to tell anyone what she is about to tell him. She finally tells him it’s because she slept with George. Alex goes off on her, asking how she can sleep with O’malley and walks out on her.

A woman comes in for a foot injury, her foot is swollen and she tells them she slipped off her treadmill. She explains that she was trying to loose weight for her fiance, so they can move in together. The women keeps asking when she’ll be able to go because she has to meet her trainer. Baily tells her she won’t be leaving any time soon, her injuries are very bad. She tries to get Callie involved but Callie’s mind is else where. Callie finally tells them that she needs to stop starving herself that is why her bones are so weak and that is why her ankle gave out. The fiance and the girl continue to argue that she is not going to stop dieting, Callie stays quiet and walks away. Bailey knows there is something wrong with Callie.

Derek asks Meredith to go away with him for 48 hours and she agrees if it’s only for sex. Meredith starts to get second thoughts about going away with Derek when she sees him getting friendly with Lexie. Christina doesn’t like Lexie and calls her intern number, “Three” Lexie tells her my name is Lexie but Christina just ignores her. She tells her to stay away from the patients and to stay by the wall. During a procedure where Derek is placing weights on an injured teenage boy to stabilize him, Lexie touches his hand to comfort him. Christina tells her to get out, that this is very critical and the slightest touch can permanently paralyze him.Derek then snaps at Cristina for being “selfish” and says she won’t be welcome in his surgeries anymore unless she starts actually teaching her interns. On her next surgery, Derek tells Lexie to help but she freezes and he looks at Christina, she then helps talk Lexie through a difficult procedure. Lexie later thanks her and Christina still calls her “Three,” but now Lexie doesn’t object.

Meredith asks Alex to swap shifts with her so she can go away with Derek. He agrees, but only if she takes the oldest intern, Norman, for the day. Meredith hands Norman the job of informing a woman she’s dying. She tells him that he can’t get emotional but when she goes into the room she finds the women crying out of control. Norman admits he might have done it wrong, and he asks what to do now. She tells him to apologize again and when he does the women starts crying louder. He asks again what to do and Meredith says to walk away slowly. Mark tells Meredith that she really messed up and he’s going to have to report them. Norman later brings the women back and she tells them how she quite her job, and broke up with her boyfriend and she is getting rid of her house and moving to Iceland, they then tell her she isn’t dying and she breaks down crying about all the things she did. Mark later tells her she is lucky the women didn’t sue, but the hospital is buying her a four bedroom house in Iceland.

Richards niece comes into the hospital unable to breath. She has cancerous masses blocking her throat. She tells them that she just wants to die, she wants to hang out with her friends and sleep in her own bed. Adele tells her she doesn’t have a choice but she says she does because she is 18 now. Richard later talks to her alone and tells her as her Doctor he can tell her all the different treatments she can have and as her Uncle he wants her to do the treatments because he doesn’t know what to do with out her, but as her doctor he’ll do what she wants. She says she wants to go home, and he says ok. Adele tells him that once again he has failed her and walks out.

Izzie prepares herself for the fight with Callie taking her earings and shoes off and everything. When Callie walks in she looks around and asks what is going on. Izzie says she is ready to fight and Callie tells her she just wanted to talk and walks away. George comes rushing in when he finds out they are going to fight and asks Alex what happened. He says I guess it was over “Nothing”.

The woman with the ankle injury starts spitting up blood and they rush her into surgery: She has a bleeding ulcer from constantly popping ibuprofen. Because she was underweight and malnourished, her heart can’t take it and she dies on the operating table. Callie finds the boyfriend outside and tells him that he’s to blame for her death and that he couldn’t have really loved her. Miranda and George stop her from actually hitting the man. George realizes she’s talking about their marriage and Miranda tells Callie that the “nothing” going on with her has almost cost her her career.

Izzie and Callie and tries to apologize. Callie tells her it’s bad enough that she humiliated her by sleeping with George, now she’s humiliated her at work too. When Izzie tries to say that she “feels terrible,” Callie replies, “Don’t you dare come to me for forgiveness, you traitorous bitch.”

George tells Callie that she can’t forgive him for what he did and she finally admits that she hasn’t forgiven him at all. She goes home to the hotel alone.

Alex tells Izzie that it’s her fault for falling for a married man, but she reminds him about Ava/Jane Doe and how she was married too. He finally admits that he is upset because she told him that after Denny she wasn’t ready to move on and then she slept with O’Malley and then she tells him like he’s one of her chick friends. He walks away. Later at home Izzie is crying and she gets a knock on her door, Alex brings in a tissue box and tells her to keep it down.

Meredith tells Derek she is ready but he changes his mind. He doesn’t want just 48 hours with her, he wants to marry her, he wants to spend his life with her and grow up to 109 years old but every time he tells her things like that she pushes him away. She says she will get there one day. He tells her he will wait but if someone comes along that wants what he wants he can’t guarantee he’ll be there.

Let the Truth Sting - Episode 3

Filed under: Grey's Anatomy, Season 4 — Wrote by Kristin on Friday, October 12th, 2007 @ 3:15 pm

Derek goes to Mark and complains to him about Meridith keeping them a secret from Christina. Mark is surprised that Derek didn’t break up with her like he had said he would. He tells Derek that he’s fookish for hoping they’ll officially get back together that Meridith isn’t just going to grow up and want to be in a relationship. Derek says he isn’t expecting that.

A patient comes in by the name of Cathy, she is told that the cancer she is has spread and that she may lose up to 60 percent of her tounge due to cancer. She’s devastated to hear that the reconstructive surgery planned will leave her nearly unable to talk. Richard (The Chief) decides to try an innovative new surgery that would reactivate the nerve in her tongue. Mark is convinced they can handle this, although George worries that neither of them have ever done this. George makes a comment under his breath about them being a little old and not knowing too much about the new surgeries. They both look at George and tell them how they are not old and they are going to do this surgery. (This part is really funny, with the facial expressions they make towards George.)

Izzie anxiously waits for George to see if he’s told Callie, when she bumps into him he explains that he wasn’t able to tell her last night. She pulls him into a room where the semi-comatose “Really Old Guy” is, to ask him why not, but they’re interrupted by her interns. She tells her interns to get out and all of a sudden the “Really Old Guy” wakes up.

Everyone is in shock because the “The Really Old Guy” has been in a coma for a year, he wakes up and objects to being referred to as “Really Old Guy”. He tells Izzie that his name is Charlie and that he’s only woken up because he’s plans to die today. Christina and Meridith come to see Charlie and he tells them that he knows who they are. He goes on to tell Meridith about how she is with that Doctor. While Izzie examines him, he reveals that he knows everything about all the residents, after the year they spent lunching and gossiping in his room. He insists that George isn’t going to leave his wife for Izzie because men never do. She is naive if she thinks he will. Before she says anything he says because he has to tell his Wife that he married her for the wrong reasons.

Charlie starts pulling his tubes and wires out to help make the process of his death a little faster and Izzie is so annoyed with him, she helps him, she tells him oh look your still breathing, then she pulls a plug and says oh no that didn’t work, oh wait that was because it’s part of the lamp, the intern interrupts her and points out that he’s stopped breathing. They manage to bring him back, when Charlie wakes up he tells Izzie to stop saving his life. Izzie later goes to see Charlie and they tell her he is leaving the hospital today. She tells them he can’t she just brought him lobster. Izzie tells Charlie he’s probably right about George and then she realizes that Charlie has died, just like he said he would. And that gives her hope that you can get what you want, eventually.

Alex is given middle-aged intern named Norman and wants to dump him on the clinic. Miranda insists that she first needs a favor from him: He has to treat a teenage boy whose mother has brought him in because she suspects he’s on drugs. Alex tries to explain that his altered behavior can have a variety of causes, but Norman sides with the mother, praising her intuition and insists on the drug test. The drug test comes back negative and it looks like the boy is just going through normal teenage moodiness, until he starts spouting gibberish. Alex orders a neural exam. The boy has hydrocephalis, which is impacting his speech.

During the tongue surgery, Mark isn’t sure what to do next and says he’s never done this before. They realize they need an extra set of hands and send George to fetch Derek. The teenage boy collapses and Alex runs to get Derek, who’s busy with the tongue surgery. He tells Alex what to do: He needs to stick a needle behind the patient’s eye into his brain, which saves his life.

Since Lexie seems unwilling to learn from Meredith, she orders her to go to the clinic. Miranda is upset that the clinic is being treated as a dumping ground and orders her to go back, but Lexie begs her to stay since Meredith obviously hates her.Miranda tells Meredith that Lexie thinks she hates her and her mother, Susan — who died under Meredith’s care. Miranda insists that Meredith’s job is to help Lexie be a better doctor. Meredith tells Lexie that she was very fond of Susan and then explains every detail of what went wrong on the day she died.

George says yes don’t learn from me. Norman looks at him shocked and Alex says what are you looking at. Then turns to Lexie and says Interns…But Lexie looks at him with disgust.

Miranda updates Callie, who’s been doing paperwork all day, on all the residents’ dumping of interns, but Callie couldn’t care less. Callie says she knows Miranda better at her job but she doesn’t want to fight her, or anyone, so she’s just going to do paperwork. Miranda admits she’s having trouble with being #2 when she used to be #1, but she’s going to help Callie since she obviously needs it. Callie accepts, with relief.

Grey’s Anatomy opens up very similar to the way it opened up the first season. Everyone except for George. They all get new interns and Christina gets Meredith’s half sister Lexie. Lexie tries to meet Meredith not knowing who she is.

Izzie bumps into George and asks him why he’s been ignoring her, she told him she loved him and it’s been 17 days with out a word from him. He just tells her how he’s been busy and has things on his mind. He didn’t pass the interns exam remember?! He then walks away. Izzie’s interns all whisper behind her back, but she can here them bickering on about how they got the dud doctor, did you hear that last year she lost a patient and then got suspended?!

Derek goes around trying to find a friend to hang out with. He asks Bailey if she wants to go for a drink after work, and she tells him no, just because Addison left, and Burk left, and he’s not friends with Mark so just because he doesn’t have friends doesn’t mean they can hang out now. Derek says I have friends, and looks around to find the Chief, he says I have the Chief and walks away. He goes to the Chief and asks if he wants to have a drink after work, he says he can’t because he’s busy. He tells Derek how his wife hasn’t let him move back in, but they are trying to work things out. Mark walks up and says I’ll have a drink with you. The Chief thinks it’s a good idea, but Derek says no one said anything about a drink and walks away.

Victim’s from an accident come in and they all go rushing outside with their interns. Lexie starts to ask George who is Meredith? He asks why, and she says because I’m Lexie Grey, he says I know who you are. Before anything else is said, they tell Meredith to grab that victim. For the first time Lexie sees who her half sister is. Meredith gets a victim who is pregnant and has just lost her arm. She goes to rush inside and Lexie stops her to tell her that she is her half sister Lexie. Meredith just looks at her and keeps going.

Christina and Meredith talk about how they haven’t seen Derek or Burk. But they are just fine.

Alex is in the surgery with Dr. Bailey when Callie comes in looking for him. She gets upset that why wasn’t she paged if this is her patient. Before Alex is able to say anything, Dr. Bailey interrupts and says because this patient needed emergency surgery and he did what he had to do to save his life. Callie stays quiet and tells Alex that she wants all the paper work on her desk later and walks out.

Callie is having a hard time becoming Chief Resident. No one wants to listen to her especially Dr. Bailey who is still upset she wasn’t chosen for Chief Resident. The Chief tries to talk to Bailey but she keeps pushing him away and telling him she has nothing to talk to him about. Eventually the Chief gets into the surgery room with Bailey and tells her he didn’t choose her because she belongs in the surgery room, not behind a desk telling people what to do. She’ll thank him one day.

Meredith and Derek finally run into each other, He asks how she is doing and she says fine. He says isn’t she always? She asks if he’s seen a missing arm of her patient and he tells her no. Lexie walks up at this point and Derek looks at her and says you are the girl from the bar? Meredith turns to him and says’ “I’m the girl from the bar” and walks away. Lexie tells Derek that she is Meredith’s half sister and Meredith hates her already. Derek looks shocked, and Lexie just tells him that she came looking for him, he’s needed in the emergency room. Christina’s patient is unable to move, the only thing holding his head is skin and muscle tissue. They need to operate as soon as possible. They bring his family in and it’s a tear filling moment as the Wife tells him to pull through, in the back stand his two children. He blinks one time for No and two times for Yes but this time he blinked three times. They wonder what it means and the wife says does that mean I LOVE YOU? He blinks two times for Yes. She starts to cry as the children are crying in the back as well. Right before they take him into surgery the daughter comes up to him real quick and does three blinks. And they take him off to surgery.

Derek sees Cristina and asks if she wants to go for a drink after work. She says no I don’t like you. He says why because of Meredith? She no because I just don’t like you. Derek asks how Meredith is doing and she says fine. He says yes that’s the problem she is always fine. Cristina tells him that they are just women who are always fine. She then asks him where Burk is, does he have the day off? Derek is forced to tell her the truth. He tells her that Burk gave in his resignation two weeks ago. Is she okay? She says she is fine. He says of course you are, and walks away.

Meredith is in surgery with Mark and George and the patient begins to go into Labor. George rushes in and delivers the baby. Lexie goes to congratulate him and asks him why he isn’t happy. He says because this isn’t his first surgery it’s like dajavu, this is his second year as an intern.

Derek bumps into Mark again and Mark tells him that he wants to go get a drink with him. Derek says why because Addison isn’t here anymore? He says no, he didn’t come here for Addison or for this position he came here for him. He then realizes what he said didn’t sound right, and starts to laugh, he says I can’t take that back now huh? Derek tells him no. He says so how about that drink. Derek smiles and says maybe another time and walks away.

Meredith is getting ready to leave when Lexie calls out her name, at the same time Derek calls her name and she stands there in the middle looking to which way to go, with out saying anything she turns to Derek and walks away.

George walks into the locker room and everyone is staring, he snaps and asks what is it? And they all start clapping, asking how does he feel about delivering his first baby on his “First” day as an intern. Lexie says yes how does it feel on your first day as an intern. George catches on and says it felt really good.

Alex and Cristina are sitting and Alex tells her he misses Ava, she tells him she misses Burk.

Meredith and Derek are talking, he says so we are really over aren’t we, she says yes ”OVER”. He goes in to kiss her but she pulls away a little until they finally begin kissing. She says “break up kiss” He says yes “break up kiss” they start undressing and they say “Break up sex”….Yes….

Izzie goes to her door to find George and he finally tells her He Loves her.
