American Idol’ reveals top 24 semifinalists

Have you been watching American Idol lately? Well normally I don’t watch it much anymore, truly after the first American Idol they had a few people that won that I just didn’t agree on, and I think I was right, because where are they now? The only other true singer besides Kelly Clarkson was Carrie Underwood, where well…no one! There were some good singers but just not great singers, and I feel it’s more about popular votes instead of who truly has the best voice.

This year however, I’ve caught a few episodes but mostly because I wanted to see Ellen as a judge. I just love her and I just knew she would bring a comical presence to American Idol, something I think they have been lacking. I honestly don’t miss Paula Abdul. Don’t get me wrong, I like her, but she just isn’t someone you miss on the show. I can’t say the same for Simon when he leaves next season. I don’t know what American Idol is going to do…but that’s another subject. Lets get to the top 24 semifinalists….

Semifinalists:

Tim Urban, 20, Andrew Garcia, 24, Moreno Valley, Calif.; Tyler Grady, 20, Nazareth, Pa.; Alex Lambert, 19, North Richland Hills, Texas; Joe Munoz, 20, Huntington Park, Calif.; John Park, 21, Evanston, Ill.; and Jermaine Sellers, 27, Joliet, Ill.

Janell Wheeler, 24, Tampa Florida, Crystal Bowersox, 24, Toledo, Ohio; Lacey Brown, 24, Amarillo, Texas; Michelle Delamor, 22, Miami; Siobhan Magnus, 20, Marstons Mills, Mass.; Paige Miles, 24, Houston, Texas; Ashley Rodriguez, 22, Chelsea, Mass.; Lilly Scott, 20, Denver; Katie Stevens, 17, Middlebury, Conn.; and Haeley Vaughn, 16, Fort Collins, Colo., Didi Benami, 23, Los Angeles; Lee Dewyze, 23, Mount Prospect, Ill.; Katelyn Epperly, 19, West Des Moines, Iowa; Aaron Kelly, 16, Sonestown, Pa.; Casey James, 27, Fort Worth, Texas; Todrick Hall, 24, Arlington, Texas and Michael “Big Mike” Lynche, 26, Astoria, N.Y.

Congratulations, and I hope that there is a true star within these 24 semifinalists.

Simon Cowell’s last season on American Idol…What now?

Filed under: Daily News,Every Day Thoughts,Kristin Nicole's Thoughts,Music, Shows, Events,Random Thoughts,TV Shows, Movies — Wrote by Kristin on Tuesday, January 12th, 2010 @ 9:01 am

Oh Simon….

First Paula now Simon? It’s confirmed all over the news and radio that Simon Cowell’s last season on American Idol will be this season. People are worried that American Idol won’t exist after he’s gone, and some hope that it will continue on. This is American Idols 9th season, can you believe it? Simon has been working on a show in Britain called the X-Factor, it’s become one of the most popular shows there, and he is wanting to bring it to the US. Here he will be a judge and produce the show as well. He wants a challenge and this is it.

Will American Idol survive?

I don’t know that American Idol will survive much longer. They have had a few successes from their contestants but most of them haven’t even been the winners of American Idol. I believe there is only 2 of them who have won and have become huge stars, Kelly Clarkson & Carry Underwoood, my favorites of them all. They are true talent and unfortunately a lot of times these reality shows are based on popularity. As you can see, where are half of the other so called American Idols? I stopped watching American Idol a long time ago, when you can see that the people winning didn’t really have the talent to be an American Idol yet were still winning the crown. I didn’t see the full show when Carry Underwood was on, but caught a few episodes and fell in love with her instantly. Great singers will prove themselves & I think Kelly & Carrie have done just that. Daughtry wasn’t even a winner yet has had a wonderful career, I also like his band, great music and great talent. However, now with Simon leaving next season I think the show will drop, he’s the biggest one on the show, and I hate to say it because the guy is a complete a** but he’s what people tune in to see. Paula Abdul left and even though many fans were upset it really wasn’t or isn’t a huge make or break deal. A lot of people don’t think Ellen DeGeneres can bring what the show needs, but I personally just LOVE HER! She’s great, funny and I think she’ll be a little more honest then Paula was, you can’t just always double coat everything with niceness. I don’t know that I’ll watch American Idol this season, but I might take a few peaks just to see how Ellen is doing.

I guess we’ll all just have to wait until this season is over to see where American Idol will lead us.

Ellen is on Oprah – Oh My!

Oprah and Ellen on One show!!!

I didn’t get to see the entire show because I have school but I saw a few clips and I’ve been hearing about it non stop. Some people say that Ellen is competition for Oprah. They are even on at the same time. So are you wondering how Ellen filmed her show and was on Oprah all at the same time? Well she pre-filmed her show and then headed over to the Windy City to be on Oprah. On Ellens show she was watching herself along with a Michael Jackson dancer, Chippendales/showgirls/opera singer/guy in panda suit, girls from the audience playing a board game, George Lopez, Robin Wright, Ellen giving a struggling mom in Georgia money to pay her rent and bills for a year, and the mom flipping out and naming her baby Ellen. All this in one show… WOW~!!!

Mean while, on Oprah, Ellen took her wife on the show and talked about their marriage, and she was oh so Funny Ellen. They have a clip of Ellen and Oprah signing Oprah’s O Magazine. This is truly funny to see. Ellen says she doesn’t feel like she is competing with Oprah but she is on two shows at the same time she says, so she is winning LOL.

Personally I haven’t really had time to watch Oprah and fall in love with her, I have seen some episodes when I’m off work sick, but honestly since Ellen came on when I get a chance and I actually have time, I love to watch her. Her little dance in the beginning and just the over all ELLEN!

Grey’s Anatomy executive producer Shonda Rhimes combines the heart and soul of television’s top-rated drama with exciting new faces in a sun-drenched new location to create a drama with a very different vibe. It’s an intimate portrait of the choices and changes we make in our search for happy lives.

Following a failed attempt at reconciliation and two disastrous affairs, neonatal surgeon Dr. Addison Forbes Montgomery craves a new relationship and a baby of her own. Addison journeys to Santa Monica to seek advice from her med school friends, Naomi and Jackson. But she finds her idealized view of their achievements — successful marriage, 14-year-old daughter and a highly successful health cooperative — doesn’t match reality.

Jackson’s success as a TV health guru pushed him to divorce Naomi and now he’s lonely. Fertility specialist Naomi wants love, but she doubts their boyish surfer/receptionist is the answer. The rest of the Oceanside Wellness Group staff has their own life issues. The sexy alternative medicine doc is a widower masking his grief with one-night stands. The gynecologist who doesn’t know a thing about women had his car stolen by this week’s Internet hookup. And the therapist doubts she’s doing any good at all. Fortunately, together they’re a formidable medical team doing cutting-edge work. Working with them, Addison realizes that moving to Southern California and joining her friends could be the right prescription for her own life.

This warm, funny, deeply affecting character drama is set against the backdrop of the joys and sorrows all doctors experience while practicing medicine. Starring Kate Walsh (Grey’s Anatomy), Tim Daly (Wings, The Nine), Amy Brenneman (Judging Amy), Chris Lowell (Veronica Mars), Paul Adelstein (Prison Break), and Taye Diggs (Day Break, Kevin Hill).

Will Grey’s Anatomy Win Best Drama?

Filed under: Every Day Thoughts,Grey's Anatomy,Kristin Nicole's Thoughts,TV Shows, Movies — Wrote by Kristin on Wednesday, August 8th, 2007 @ 8:30 am

Grey’s Anatomy is up against the Sopranos, you think they can beat them at the Emmys? According to the L.A Times awards blog Grey’s Anatomy is way ahead in fan support. But it will likely be a fight to the finish.

Others think that Heroes might make it through by tapping the same factors that boosted Lost not too long ago in recent victory. But Grey’s Anatomy really fits the pattern of Emmy champs. Voters love medical shows, yes (Chicago Hope won best drama ,E.R.; and St. Elsewhere won top acting kudos).

But just because it’s medicine doesn’t mean they are going to win. That isn’t the only think out there to win victory.

Most voters will sometimes choose shows with cops if the shows have cache such as (NYPD Blue). Of course, attorneys get winning verdicts all the time (The Practice, L.A. Law). Stuck up politics (The West Wing) have a shot, as does the mafiosos (The Sopranos).Cops and lawyers together, too (Law & Order).

House has been nominated this year, but can they actually win. Isn’t more character than anything?

Grey’s Anatomy
fits perfectly, of course, has other pluses. It’s not just about life and death it’s about love, friendship, hardship. So much more feelings and style. And of course it’s been in the headlines most recently due to Isaiah Washington.

With Sopranos off the air and recent champs Lost and 24 out of this category, a good, rational case can be made for Grey’s being the next winner of best drama! I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Now of course I am voting for Grey’s to win. They are my favorite show, favorite cast. Time will tell. Keep your fingers crossed…

Ellen Pompeo’s Wedding Plans Somewhat Revealed

Filed under: Every Day Thoughts,Grey's Anatomy,Kristin Nicole's Thoughts,TV Shows, Movies — Wrote by Kristin on Tuesday, August 7th, 2007 @ 9:14 am

Okay so I’m sorry I am a little behind on this news, maybe a lot of you already know, but maybe there are a few people like me out there that a bit behind. Now it’s not that old…Ellen Pompeo says not to expect anything extravagant. It’s going to be very small. She doesn’t give much details on the nuptials, revealing only that the ceremony won’t take place in Los Angeles. “We were thinking about going away and getting married,” she said. Ellen and Ivery met in an L.A. grocery store back in 2003.

Ellen says her fiancé has changed her life because, “I just have somebody to share everything with, all of these moments. The bad ones and the good ones. We have a very strong bond, and we just understand each other. He’s just a real companion.” She added that she knew Ivery was “the one” early on: “I guess you fall in love and you think he’s the guy right away. Right when you fall in love, you think he’s the guy. You don’t sort of fall into a relationship thinking it’s only going to be temporary.”

“Chris and I have been together for four and a half years, so I was completely surprised, but not that surprised,” Ellen admitted. “We’ve been together awhile.”
Ellen’s wedding won’t be huge but she says her co-stars may need make traveling plans in order to attend. I’ll try to keep you updated sooner ;-)

Katherine Heigl, Nancy Heigl to Launch New Production Company

Filed under: Every Day Thoughts,Grey's Anatomy,Kristin Nicole's Thoughts,TV Shows, Movies — Wrote by Kristin on Monday, August 6th, 2007 @ 12:33 pm

Katherine Heigl and her mother and manager, Nancy Heigl, will join the ranks of Will Smith, Madonna and Drew Barrymore by forming their own production shingle, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The first project is an untitled action-comedy with Fox. Katherine Heigl herself will star in the project, for which the plot is currently under wraps. A search for writers is underway.

Heigl hit the jackpot this year, though, with the Judd Apatow project Knocked Up opposite Seth Rogen.

An Emmy nominee this year for Grey’s Anatomy, Heigl became a bona fide film star with Knocked Up, which has grossed more than $145 million.
She is also set to star in the Fox romantic comedy 27 Dresses, which is scheduled for release in January. In 27 Dresses, scheduled for release in January 2008, Heigl will be playing Jane, a young woman who has been a bridesmaid 27 times – and wonders if she’ll have to stand by in an ugly dress again while her sister marries the man that Jane secretly loves.

Grey’s Anatomy (Spin Off) Critics Association Conference

Filed under: Every Day Thoughts,Grey's Anatomy,Kristin Nicole's Thoughts,Random Thoughts,TV Shows, Movies — Wrote by Kristin on Thursday, August 2nd, 2007 @ 9:45 am

The cast from the upcoming spinoff show from Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice were all at the Television Critics Association Conference. Kate Walsh, Taye Diggs and all the rest were present at the panel along with Shonda Rhimes and a few of the other cast members.
The following were a few questions asked regarding next season of Grey’s:
Will next season of Grey’s Anatomy return to a lighter tone? More ducking and weaving from Shonda. “Season 3 is a darker season,” she acknowledges, adding “it was necessary, but I want to get back to having fun.”
Spoiler: Shonda has no plans to cross over characters from Grey’s to Private Practice.

They asked if the elevator will have a lot of scenes attached to it this season.“I guess I have a thing for elevators,” Shonda finally admits. I guess we can all assume this means YES! Kate chimes in that “there are supply closets, too.”

I know a lot of people have there opinions on this new spinoff, but I love Kate and I really hope this kicks off. I look forward to seeing the show this year :-)
